Paypal claims “a ghost booking” but took the payment from me.

I paid through PayPal for a hotel booking at Travelodge. After contacting hotel about booking i was informed that no booking was recorded for me. I contacted PayPal who said it must be a “a ghost booking”. I then booked direct with Travelodge. Lo and behold when my credit card statement arrived i had been charged by both companies for the same booking. After numerous emails and calls to PayPal and Travelodge over the last five weeks I Still cannot get any redress. PayPal seem to be totally ignoring my calls and emails and acting like the transaction never even took place despite charging me for it. Travelodge never got any payment from PayPal only the payment I made to them directly.
